You built a platform and attracted an audience… Now what?
One of the key components of living the Gamer Lifestyle is to have an online presence – a website, blog, newsletter, forum, etc. A lot of gamers build and grow a website and attract an audience because they are passionate and offer valuable content.
Then what?
Direct revenue stream
There are 2 direct revenue streams that are accessible to most website owners:
- Charge a fee for visitors to have access to the content
- Charge advertisers to place ads on your site
It’s a lot of work to keep members happy once you charged them to get access to your content. Placing ads on your site is easy, but the income is unreliable – it used to be my main source of income and I got burnt pretty badly.
Indirect opportunites
Here are a few interesting indirect revenue streams:
- Freelancing
- Consulting
- Public speaking
- Selling products to your audience
- Business partnerships
- Employment opportunities
All these indirect opportunities are just as great as the direct income you can earn from your website. And the longer you grow your website, the longer you build your reputation and authority, the better the opportunities will get.
Don’t build your website to be a platform for advertisers. Build your website to be a platform for you, a launching pad to bigger and better things.
